Long Term Relief

Aquablation is a solution to finally find symptom relief due to BPH.

First of its Kind

Aquablation uses a heat-free waterjet to remove prostate tissue.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Aquablation is the only procedure that allows the surgeon to see the entire prostate during surgery. This enables them to create a mapped plan to remove the parts of the prostate that are causing your symptoms.

Aquablation Therapy

What is Aquablation?

Aquablation is an advanced surgical treatment offering for benign prostatic hyperplasia–a condition often referred to as BPH. Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock, and Baptist Health-Fort Smith are proud to provide a unique treatment that aids men suffering from BPH.

Aquablation is a new, revolutionary therapy used to treat BPH or an enlarged prostate. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the medical term for an enlarged or swollen prostate. Approximately 1.2 million men have BPH and can suffer symptoms from moderate to severe.

BPH is one of the most common urological conditions seen by urologists. An enlarged prostate is a noncancerous condition that produces many symptoms, including loss of bladder control, slow stream, urgency, frequency, incomplete emptying, straining, and hesitancy in urination. Aquablation therapy offers relief from these symptoms that are a daily inconvenience to a large population of men.

Confidence in Aquablation Therapy

Aquablation is the first FDA-approved surgical robot providing autonomous tissue removal for treating BPH. The technology is unique in combining three key elements to remove tissue safely, quickly, and precisely: real-time, multidimensional imaging for improved decision-making and surgical planning; robotic execution for precision; and the power of a water jet—pulsating near the speed of sound—that is heat-free, thus avoiding thermal injuries that can occur with lasers. The therapy also has the significant advantages of conserving anatomical structures associated with urine control and sexual function.

What Makes Aquablation Different?

Although BPH remains a highly prevalent disease among the aging population, a majority of men choose to seek medical advice only after experiencing bothersome urinary symptoms. While oral therapy is a common initial treatment for men with BPH, surgical intervention remains an appropriate alternative in patients with particularly bothersome symptoms. Aquablation is the newest surgical offering with the goal of achieving positive patient outcomes while minimizing sexual side effects.

Before Aquablation, more invasive procedures such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) have long been utilized to treat BHP symptoms. While the TURP procedure is still performed and effective, Aquablation is the newer and less invasive method for treating BPH patients. Compared to other surgical treatment options, Aquablation has equivalent surgical success and significantly less sexual side effects. This surgical offering yields promising results due to its short resection time regardless of gland size and low rate of sexual dysfunction.

Using Aquablation, the risk of developing erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory disorders, and sexual dysfunction post-surgery is very low. In fact, before surgery, many men are already experiencing negative symptoms due to patient age and the severity of their BHP. For many, these symptoms are improved or relieved post-surgery. This new technology offers a balance of improved efficacy and decreased sexual dysfunction.

Aquablation is the best choice in surgical modality offerings available for BPH:

  • Minimized sexual dysfunction
  • Minimally invasive treatment
  • Safer, cost-effective, and equally efficacious compared to other surgical methods
