At the Baptist Health Wound & Hyperbaric Centers in North Little Rock and Fort Smith, our physicians design a customized treatment plan for patients with non-healing wounds, working with other healthcare professionals. Patients are part of their care plan too, helping their healing by doing daily dressing changes and living a healthy lifestyle. Through advanced treatments and the expertise of a wound care specialist, we provide options that a regular clinic cannot, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Wound Treatment

The program at Baptist Health wound centers includes regular visits to measure and check healing. Treatments are adjusted as needed, and special medicines or procedures may be used to help the wound heal. Each wound care specialist provides access to a wide range of treatments, including:

• Specialized Dressings
  Dressings with medicines or chemicals in the fibers to promote healing and prevent infection. Different absorbency levels are available.
• Specialized Outer Wraps
  Outer wraps that give extra compression or hold dressings in place.
• Debridement
  Removal of unhealthy tissue in the wound bed so healthy tissue can grow.
• Infection Control
  Monitoring wounds for infection and treating if needed.
• Bio-synthetic Grafts
  Synthetic skin substitutes to help skin grow and heal.
• Vacuum-assisted Wound Closure
  Removes debris and infection while encouraging healing.
• Nutritional Guidance
  Helping patients eat the vitamins, minerals, and proteins needed for recovery.
• Additional Medical Tests
  Tests to find out why a wound isn’t healing.
• Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
  Patients may need this treatment to grow new blood vessels and fight infections. It involves breathing 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber. A wound care specialist and trained technician supervise the therapy.
• Transcutaneous Oximetry Measurement (TCOM)
  A non-invasive test for peripheral vascular disease.
