Guest Estimate FAQs

Baptist Health provides projected cost estimates for all patients regardless of their level of insurance coverage. This estimator tool uses CPT codes to link the specified service with the associated cost. A CPT or Current Procedural Technology code is the code which identifies a specific medical procedure and is determined by your physician.

If you are an uninsured patient, your estimate will reflect the Baptist Health discount for uninsured patients.

If you are a patient with medical insurance, your estimate will reflect the current benefit level as provided by your insurance company at the time of the request. Benefit level information will confirm any deductible, co-payment and/or co-insurance amounts specified by your policy which you will be liable to pay for your services.

• Deductible: The set amount of money you pay before the insurance company issues payment on allowed charges
• Co-payment: A set amount of money you pay a provider at the time a service is received
• Co-insurance: The set percentage you will pay out-of pocket after your policy deductible has been met

The projected cost estimate is a good faith estimate based on the information provided at the time of your request. The estimate is as accurate as the insurance information you entered, provided that the service selected was correct, and your insurance benefits from your insurance company were up to date at the time of the request.

The estimated charges are based on average hospital charges for patients admitted with similar diagnoses and are for the actual cost of your hospitalization, including room charges, medication, nursing care, meals and other fees directly related to your care. This does not include other statements you may receive from other members of your healthcare team who may participate in your care. These other charges may include your own physician or other physicians such as an anesthesiologist, cardiologist, surgeon, radiologist or pathologist. Any questions about these bills should be directed to those physicians’ offices. If you are uninsured, your obligation will reflect the estimated charges, 74% is off of Hospital charges only.

The actual amounts for the service(s) may change based upon your needs at the time of the service, treatment or services your doctor wants you to have during the visit, and other information provided by your insurance carrier. This estimate is only for your out-of-pocket cost for Baptist Health hospital services and does not include professional fees, such as physician, radiologist, anesthesiologist, and pathologist fees.

If you have insurance, your obligation may include deductibles, co-payments and co-insurance amounts, and services not covered under your policy. If you are uninsured, your obligation will reflect the estimated charges, 74% is off of Hospital charges only.

Your actual final charges may be more or less than the estimate. If they are more, you will receive a bill reflecting those additional charges. If they are less you will promptly be issued a refund. Additionally, if you have outstanding balances from prior visits to a Baptist Health facility, you will also be asked to pay these balances.

Before having the services, please contact your insurance company to confirm what is covered under your plan and that Baptist Health is a participating provider. After you have the services, we will submit a claim to your insurance carrier. Any services not covered under your plan will be billed to you.
