BAPTIST HEALTH Stroke-Care Program Can Significantly Improve Outcomes for Patients

BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center–Little Rock has earned the gold seal of approval from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence.

The Joint Commission conducted an on-site review of the stroke facility before awarding the certification. Achieving this certification demonstrates that the BHMC– LR stroke-care program follows national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.

BHMC–LR is the second hospital in the state to receive this accreditation and the only hospital in central Arkansas.

“As a Stroke Center of Excellence, we are providing the most up-to-date treatment available for stroke patients by focusing on both the patient and the community to educate and prevent secondary strokes,” said Julie Womack, orthopedic/neurologic program line manager at BHMC–LR.

The Stroke Center of Excellence is the latest in a list of gold-standard certifications that BAPTIST HEALTH has recently received. Other distinctions include being named an Orthopedic Center of Excellence, a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, a Blue Cross Blue Shield Distinction Center for Cardiac Care, and an Excellence in Parkinson’s Care accreditation from the Parkinson’s Foundation of the Heartland.
