There's a story behind every patient that passes through the doors of BAPTIST HEALTH and each one will touch your heart. We can't cover every story for every patient or the extrodinary care team that helped them recover, but here are a few we found exceptionally inspirational.
Helen Beckwith
Chemotherapy had destroyed Helen Beckwith's heart, but not her spirit. Helen needed a heart transplant, but didn't have time to wait for a heart.Tim Strange
With a smile on his face and his wife Beverly by his side, Tim Strange, a BAPTIST HEALTH Rehabilitation Institute patient, prepared for his last session of physical therapy before going home. Nearly six months ago, Strange was admitted to a hospital in Texarkana with life threatening injuries. Involved in an altercation where the assailant used a baseball bat and brass knuckles causing severe brain injuries, Strange was left for dead.Ronnie Brown

On Jan. 29, 2003, Roy Herzog, 40, of Ola came to BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center-Little Rock after falling from an eight foot platform at a frozen food processing plant where he was employed. Losing his balance, Herzog landed on the concrete floor, severely damaging his skull and breaking several vertebra.April Hughes
On Nov. 24, 2002, April Hughes, 19, of El Dorado was rushed to a local hospital barely hanging on to life after the car she was a passenger in ran off the road, hit several trees, flew 180 yards across a pond and caught fire. Thankfully, witnesses pulled Hughes from the vehicle.Randall Jewett
On Jan. 30, 2003, Randall Jewett, 20, of Sheridan was med-flighted to BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center-Little Rock with several broken vertebra after being thrown from his four-wheeler. The accident left him with total paralysis in his right leg and limited use of his left.Robert Parkman
Dr. Robert Parkman's life changed in Sept. 2002. Diagnosed with colon cancer, Parkman came to BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center-Little Rock to have surgery. This is where his journey began. Surgery went well, and doctors were able to remove the cancer from Parkman's colon. Chemotherapy was recommended after the surgery to ensure the cancer would not return.Brock Wilson
Brock spent his first thirty one days in a coma in the intensive care unit. All the medical terms aside, he's lucky to be alive.
